A GIANT celebration of hot rods, kustoms, muscle cars and lowriders will take over San Remo and Phillip Island early next month, attracting visitors from around Australia and overseas.

The annual Kustoms Nationals weekend, hosted by Kustoms of Australia, will run from January 8-10.

Organisers say it's impossible to predict exactly how big a crowd will turn up, but they expect somewhere around 1800 cars and 5000 people.

The weekend festival is an annual celebration of "kustom car kulture", incorporating cars, art, rockabilly music, workshops, contests of various kinds and more.

It starts with a Friday night beach party at San Remo, with displays of customised cars and live rockabilly music.

On Saturday, visitors will enjoy a Rockabilly Festival from 8am to 8pm, with non-stop music, lifestyle trade stands, cars on display and cars cruising on the Grand Prix track.

Then, on Sunday, there's more cruising at the track.

Special features this time include customising operations, 1950s and hot rod-oriented lifestyle trading displays.

Other attractions will include a pinstriping workshop, hot rod tattoo contest, model car show, "Kustom Kulture" exhibition, mini-rods, lowrider bikes and flamethrowers.

No alcohol, glass or dogs can be brought into the venue.
