HOT rod, muscle car and classic car owners come from all over Victoria twice a year for the colourful Steel Bumper Displays at Narre Warren, near Dandenong.

One display is held mid-year, while the second takes the form of a Christmas get-together for enthusiasts and their families.

This next get-together, planned for Sunday, December 20, will again be hosted by Speed Parts retro speed shop, located on the corner of Vesper Drive and the Princes Highway in Narre Warren.

Somewhere between 300 and 500 cars and about 3000 people are expected to show up for an informal barbecue and family day.

It's mostly individual owners, but last year several car clubs organised weekend runs around the event.

Owners came from as far afield as Mildura, Shepparton, Sale and Leongatha.

The display runs from 9am to about 4pm and there is no cost to display or view.
