THE awards keep on coming for Bega Cheese.
The NSW cheese manufacturer was recently crowned Australia's most respected agricultural company in a Business Review Weekly survey.
Executive chairman Barry Irvin said Bega Cheese's history, the value it places on long-term relationships, as well as strong core values and community base, were the building blocks of its success.
Ramaya Jerseys to $5300
JERSEYS sold to a top of $5300 at the Ramaya Jerseys dispersal at Leitchville last week.
The top price was paid by Roger and Helen Perrett of Kongwak. The 154 spring calvers averaged $1737.
The autumn-calving offering of 23 head sold to a top of $3800 and averaged $1973.
Six animals were passed in.
Selling agents were Dairy Livestock Services.
Tapex to recycle silage wrap
ONE company has put its hand up to recycle silage wrap and pit covers.
Major Australian plastics producer Tapex will run a stewardship program called Plasback, which will ensure discarded silage plastic can become the raw material for new products such as an alternative to plywood sheet called Tuffboard.
The program has been supported by regional councils, the Gippsland Regional Waste Management Group and Murray Goulburn.

Murray Dairy sponsorship
MURRAY Dairy will sponsor one young dairy farmer from the region to attend next year's Australian Dairy Conference.
The conference will be held in Wollongong, NSW, from February 23-26 and will involve farm visits as well as presentations.
Murray Dairy funding will cover the full cost of the registration plus travel and accommodation.
