IT'S HOLIDAY season and that means family, fun and ... cattle sales.
Roland and Sue Cameron, of Athlone South, have returned to selling in the first of the weaner sales at Hamilton after several years of topping the Warrnambool calf market in mid January.
Their 180 pure Angus steers will feature in the 2800 Angus and Angus-cross steers yarded by Hamilton independent agents today.
The Camerons have opted for the earlier sale to enjoy more time with their young family over summer.
"The last time I sold there was four or five years ago and we averaged $700, so we'll be hoping for another positive sale this year," Mr Cameron said.
All the Athlone South steers have been weaned for a month.
"We've tried to please the buyers by doing everything properly," he said.
