IT APPEARS rural townsfolk are not quite as ready to accept where their food comes from as their city counterparts.

The first market-style Coles store in rural Australia opened last month at Kialla near Shepparton.

Here, shoppers have access to an in-store butcher and fishmonger.

But since then, a group has been started on the social networking site Facebook.

It calls itself "Riverside Coles smells like s---" and it is believed 150 people have already joined.

Ah, why would you want to smell the odours of fresh meat and fish, when you can buy something which has no distinguishable flavour or smell?
