LAST year was one of consolidation for Te Mania Angus stud.
After selling their Colac property, Pardoo, in late 2008, the Gubbins family completed the relocation of their herd to its new home at Mortlake last August.
"The bull buyers never saw the cows when we were at Pardoo, so this way we have streamlined the operation," co-principal Tom Gubbins said.
Pardoo was established by Mary and Andrew Gubbins 50 years ago. It was home to the Te Mania bull unit but since 2002 the females had been run at Mortlake.
Mr Gubbins, with his wife Lucy, sister Amanda and her husband Hamish McFarlane, as well as their parents Andrew and Mary Gubbins, have hit the ground running at Mortlake.
The new bull-selling yards are almost complete, and the next bull sale will be held on March 19, when 160 bulls will be auctioned.
