KEEN photographers from around Australia went hunting through their collected images when this year's national savewater! awards opened for entries.

Now in their seventh year, the awards recognise outstanding water conservation achievements of schools, businesses, government, local communities and individuals.

The photographic award was in three sections - primary and secondary schools and general.

Naomi Frost won second place in the general section with her picture "Just doing my bit", which judges described as "a comic portrayal of water conservation".

"It's a witty construct," they said. "The difference between conservation and waste is using what's between the ears."

Hannah Mossop, from Bacchus Marsh Primary School, won the primary schools' section with her entry, "Precious".

"This is an image with a message - we hold the future of our water supply in our hands," the judges wrote.
