VITERRA has made its long-awaited appointment of a chief to head its Australian and New Zealand operations.
He is Rob Gordon, former chief executive officer and managing director of Dairy Farmers Pty Ltd and one-time managing director of Goodman Fielder Consumer Foods Pty Ltd.
Mr Gordon will begin immediately as president of Viterra's southeast Asian operations and senior vice-president of Viterra.
He replaces Michael Iwaniw, who announced his resignation as ABB Grain managing director last July, just prior to Viterra taking over the Australian bulk handler, marketer and maltster.
A cloud of mystery still surrounds the sudden departure of Mr Iwaniw, who is believed to have a major falling out with then ABB Grain chairman and now Viterra director Perry Gunner at a critical time in the amalgamation of the two companies.
Mr Gordon played a key role in the conversion of Dairy Farmers from a farmer-owned co-operative to a commercial consumer goods company.
