KRONE has announced three new silage wagons will be available to the Australian market for 2010.
The three wagons have capacities of 28 cubic metres to 43 cubic metres and are made for fast loading and unloading of silage and other forages.
The smallest of the three wagons is the AX280 GD, which has a 28-cubic-metre capacity.
The MX350 GL/GD wagon has a 35-cubic-metre capacity and the ZX450 GL/GD is the largest, with a 43-cubic-metre capacity.
The two larger models are available as GL or GD versions.
The GL wagons have a fully enclosed body with a chain and slat moveable floor for discharging and the GD models have a tailgate and two discharge rollers as standard with a third roller an option.
A feature of the new AX and MX wagons is they run Krone's camless, low-maintenance pick up, first launched in Krone's Big Pack square balers about four years ago.
The pick up has 65 per cent less moving parts than a conventional pick up with a cam track.
The pick up width for the AX wagon is 1700mm and for the MX silage wagon is 1900mm.
Both the AX and MX are also equipped with crop rollers and guide rollers to ensure accurate contour following.
All three new wagons have increased rotor sizes to ensure smooth cutting of the crop.
A 760mm diameter feeding and cutting rotor with six rows of tines is used in the AX model and an 880mm diameter feeding and cutting rotor with eight rows of tines is used in the MX wagons.
Tines are welded to the rotor and the tines are hard surfaced for longer wear.
In the cutting section of the wagons, the AX280 GD has 32 knives, which can cut material to a length of 45mm while the MX wagons have 41 knives and a cutting width of 37mm.
Krone has come up with a unique feature on the wagons that allows the entire knife bank to fold down from the machine and swing to the side.
The operator lowers the knife bank via a switch on the side of the wagon, then the knife bank is swung sideways using a lever.
This allows the knives to be changed without any tools.
The wagons have a bogey axle as standard and the rear axle is steerable.
The rear axle will automatically lock itself in the "straight" position for added safety when the wagon is being emptied over a silage pit or stack.
