VICTORIAN racing chiefs are considering a proposal to overturn a ban on jumps racing.
Industry stakeholders met with the Racing Victoria Limited board yesterday, in a last ditch bid to save the sport, set to be banned at the end of this year.
The RVL released a statement saying it would consider the proposal by the Australian Jumping Racing Association but was yet to make a decision.
"The board considered a proposal from Mike Symons, the nominated representative of the stakeholders, requesting that RVL overturn its decision to conclude jumps racing in Victoria at the end of the 2010 season," RVL chief executive Rob Hines said.
"A decision has not yet been made on the proposal and we will continue our discussions with Mike Symons."
RVL announced the jumps racing ban last May after several horses died competing in the controversial event.
