NORTHERN Victorian prime lamb producer Kevin McIntosh, like many others breeding sheep, is riding a high at the moment.
One of those highs came in Melbourne last week, when Mr McIntosh, from Macorna, sold 19.5-micron weaner fleeces for 740c/kg greasy.

These were nine-month fleeces from the Collinsville and Banavie-blood weaners he bought as lambs last year for $54.
"I just wish I had bought more of them," said Mr McIntosh of the 600 weaners, which will now be joined to Border Leicesters, to supply replacement first-cross ewes.
Mr McIntosh joins 2500 first-cross ewes to terminals, with the lambs run on irrigated pasture and sold throughout the year.
Mr McIntosh's sale of wool in the Landmark catalogue last Wednesday coincided with AWEX's Eastern Market Indicator rising to 947c/kg, before easing to close the week at 942c/kg.
