Elaine Drew and Peter Moloney bought the property about six years ago and have enjoyed the lifestyle that came with it.

"We love it. It's been really just a lovely experience," Elaine said.

"The building has a really nice feel about it. It's a lovely old Victorian style with old charm and modern facilities."

The large four-bedroom homestead was renovated 15 years ago but retains many of its original features, including high ceilings and a claw-foot bath.

There is also an in-ground pool and self-contained bungalow at the back of the property.

Elaine said a local winery produced their grapes for wine which they stored in a cellar connected to the house, while another friend processed the lavender into pure essential lavender oil.

Elaine said there was also a lovely large garden.

"The (garden) beds are edged with quite large stones from the area," she said.

Braeside is just out of Bruthen, which is 25km north of Bairnsdale.
