GRIZZLY Engineering has added a large-scale deep ripper to its range of cultivation equipment.
The 15-tine ripper comes in a folding wing design, which means it will fold down to just 3.5m in width for transport.
Grizzly Engineering marketing manager Skye Poltrock said the new ripper would provide more flexibility for broadacre farmers.
"The new ripper has an effective working width of 7.5m and is also available as a linkage or trailed machine," Skye said.
"The bigger width means it will get over larger acreages faster but its ability to fold makes it relatively compact for transport."
Each of the ripper's 15 tines are a parabolic - or curved - shape and have 660mm under-frame clearance, which allows the tines to break up hard pan soils with ease, according to Skye.
"The ripper has been built for export as well as the domestic market so it's tough as nails," Skye said.
A new feature on the ripper is a hydraulic levelling system, which is also integrated into the three rear crumble rollers for an even finish to the soil surface.
The ripper is designed to run on the rollers only while in use, maximising the ability of the ripper to break down clods.
The tines can be protected by either shear pins or a hydraulic break out system if large objects are struck.
Further adding to the ripper's flexibility is that the tine spacings are fully adjustable from 300mm to 500mm.
"We can even set the rippers up for raised bed cropping on 2m wheel centres," Skye said.
"The frame is a tension clamp design which simply bolts together so you can change its set up to suit a variety of operations.
"You won't be stuck simply with a machine that can only be used for raised bed work. We can pretty much tailor a ripper to suit any need whether that's a single tine unit for laying pipe or large-scale machine for breaking up heavy country."
Grizzly Engineering also manufactures straight-shanked rippers.
