RIVERINE Plains Inc will hold a summer cropping field day at Pine Lodge, near Shepparton, tomorrow.

The field day will allow farmers to assess five summer crop types and fallow, and the effect they have on the following wheat crop.

The crops are safflower, sunflowers, white French millet, lab lab, mung beans and fallow.

The field day site is off Sidebottoms Road, 15km east of Shepparton on the Midland Highway.

The field day begins at 9.30am and runs until midday, with morning tea provided.

Riverine Plains will also hold its annual general meeting this month.

It will be held at the Corowa RSL Club at 3.15pm on February 18, following the local Grains Research and Development Corporation update.

GrainCorp directors face ballot

THREE GrainCorp directors will go before a ballot of shareholders when the company holds its annual general meeting in Sydney on February 24.

Chairman Don Taylor and David Trebeck, a director since 2002, are recontesting their positions on the board.

And the recent appointment of Donald McGauchie to the board has to be ratified by shareholders.

It is Mr McGauchie's second stint as a GrainCorp director, having served from October 2000 until he resigned in July 2003, to join the James Hardie Industries board.

Shareholders will also have the opportunity to ask questions about the financial report.

Written questions about the management of the company can also be asked.

Shareholders will also vote in the non-binding ballot on adoption of the remuneration report.
