MARYSVILLE will play host to celebrity UK chef Jamie Oliver next month at the World's Longest Lunch.

According to organisers, when Oliver heard about the event in the fire-ravaged town, he was keen to be involved.

Previous long lunches were held in the historic gardens of Marylands Country House, but they were destroyed in the fire.

Maryton Park, a farm and bed and breakfast near Marysville run by Tony Thompson, will host the lunch this year, for more than 200 guests.

The lunch will feature dishes from local chefs and producers including Nigel Robinson from the Ruffy Produce Store and Ashraf and Christine Doos from the Marysville Patisserie.

According to Upper Goulburn Food and Wine Group officer Sam Hicks, news that Oliver was coming to town had caused a frenzy and tickets had been sold out within hours.

"Part of the lunch is to celebrate our recovery - to celebrate our region," Ms Hicks said.
