THE Oxley family's Wyndamah Poll Dorset stud will be dispersed this year after almost 60 years and three generations.
The stud was established by Graeme Oxley's father in 1938 as a Dorset Horn stud on the family property at Pental Island near Swan Hill.
More than 600 mated stud ewes will be sold on March 20, with the final dispersal of the Poll Dorset rams in October.
South Africa Mega Merino
AUSTRALIA'S first sale of the South African Mega Merino at Dubbo, in NSW, on Saturday drew interest from across the nation.
The Armstrong family, of Cassilis Park stud at Cassilis, and South African breeder Andries Pienaar, sold all 20 embryo-transfer rams, to a top price of $3800 and average of $2755. Swan Hill wool grower Ian Hickey bought the top-priced ram.
Damien Drum
WYCHEPROOF will sell 9000 sheep - mostly first-cross ewes and Merino wethers - this Friday. Landmark's Damien Drum said there was a "good run" of 1 1/2-year-old Merino wethers as well as joinable age first-cross ewe lambs.
