TRY this recipe for two-for-one pastie, sent in by Kathleen Wilkie of Vermont South in Victoria.
TWO-FOR-ONE PASTIE
- 500g minced beef or chicken
- 2 onions, chopped
- 3 sticks celery, chopped
- 3 large carrots, grated
- 1/2 tspn minced garlic
- 1 tbspn mixed herbs
- 1 pkt chicken noodle soup
- 1 tbspn gravox
- 1 tspn soy sauce
- 4 sheets puff pastry
- 2 eggs
Mix all ingredients together except pastry and eggs. Mix one egg with meat mixture. Lay 2 sheets of pastry on a greased tray.
Divide mixture between them. Brush edges of pastry with beaten egg.
Top each with remaining sheet of pastry. Brush top with beaten egg. Sprinkle with poppy or sesame seeds.
Bake for 30-40 minutes in a moderate to hot oven.
