GENUINE yearling Angus bulls sold to a top of $3700 in the North East's opening autumn bull sale.
Held on-property at Warrenbayne, the Prime Angus sale offered 24 autumn drop and three rising two-year-old bulls.
Attracting 18 registered bidders, the sale resulted in 22 bulls selling for a gross of $44,000, 92 per cent clearance and average of $2000.
Cattle sold to Benalla, Swanpool, Mudgegonga, Greta, Cudgewa, Whorouly and Balliston.
Repeat buyer Brian Whiteley, from Cudgewa, paid $3700 for the top price bull, Prime Dinky-Di.
Sired by Lawsons Dinky-Di, the 12-month-old bull weighed 557kg, had a daily gain of 1.4kg, a frame score of six and scrotal circumference of 40cm.
Prime Angus principal Peter Butterfield said the sale had strong local repeat buyer support with some new clients.
Last year, 13 out of 25 bulls sold to a top of $6400 and average of $2200.
``Repeat buyers are accustomed to the long term planning involved with yearling bulls,'' Mr Butterfield said.
