STRAUTMANN unveiled its latest feed-out wagon at Warragul recently.

The Strautmann FVW 250 has a 25 cubic-metre capacity and features horizontal beaters located at the front of the wagon for an even flow of material as it is discharged.

Strautmann equipment is distributed in Australia by Inlon.

Inlon's Strautmann product manager, Shane Ryan, said the new feed-out wagon was a sturdy machine made specifically for feeding out hay and silage.

"The front beaters mean the feed is well mixed before it is fed out and there's an option of an extra beater for even more thorough mixing," Shane said.

"You can load in several different products and know that they will be well mixed as the feed is discharged from the wagon. So, rather than just feeding the material out, the product is mixed as well."

The beaters are driven by the tractor's power-take-off shaft while the FVW 250's moveable floor was run hydraulically from twin pumps located on each side.

Shane said the dual pumps for the floor chains helped spread the load by moving the floor forward.

"The floor drive is variable speed and the dual pumps even out the force required to move the floor, which means less maintenance," Shane said.

A minimum of 52kW tractor power is required to haul the FVW 250, which is mounted on a tandem-axle trailer.

Shane said another optional extra was a load cell, for accurate weighing of feed.

"The load cell is a more common application these days, especially when accuracy is required for making up a feed ration," Shane said.

One of the machinery dealers at the feed-out wagon's launch was Jason Henry, of Windmill Ag, at Meeniyan.

"We've actually just sold one of the new wagons to a dairy farmer near Yarram," Jason said.

"As this new unit is the biggest Strautmann feed-out wagon you can get, it is well suited to dairying.

"The Strautmanns are strong, reliable machines."
