EXCLUSIVE SURVEY: NATIONAL Australia Bank is the biggest rural lender by a country mile, according to The Weekly Times Farmer Insights survey.
It showed 28 per cent of farmers in Victoria and the Riverina did the majority of their banking with the NAB, with its nearest rival the Commonwealth holding 17 per cent market share.
The ANZ was not far behind with 15 per cent, followed by Westpac and Bendigo Bank.
Specialist rural banks Rabobank and Elders held 4 per cent and 2 per cent market share respectively.
NAB also fared well in the credibility stakes with 27 per cent of farmers rating them the most sincere in their dealings with them.
The Commonwealth and Bendigo Bank came in second and third.
But for overall customer satisfaction Bendigo Bank was rated the highest with a score of 9.2 out of ten.
When it came to financial advice, farmers put most of their faith in their accountant rather than the bank - 72 per cent per cent of farmers sought advice from their accountant with 39 per cent using their bank's advisers.
