A POLL Hereford bull with strong carcass and growth traits topped the Injemira Beef Genetics sale in southern NSW today.
Held on-property at Ladysmith, near Wagga Wagga, by the Greening family, the sale attracted 55 registered buyers.From an offering of 51 bulls, 49 sold to a top of $16,000 and an average of $4515.
This compared to last year when 47 from 50 bulls sold to $21,500 and average of $4460.
The Arnott family, of Currabubula, in northern NSW, paid the top price of $16,000 for Injemira Poll National.
Sired by Allendale National, the autumn 2008-drop bull weighed 1010kg and had all Breedplan dollar indexes in the top 5 per cent of the breed.
Preceeding the bull sale was a draft of 260 autumn and spring-calving Injemira-blood commercial heifers.
The top pen of 23 rising two-year-olds, due to calve in March, sold to Daniel Fischer of Landmark Wangaratta for $1220.
Injemira principal Marc Greening said the sale result had boosted his confidence in the beef industry.
