ANGUS bulls sold to a top of $20,000 at Banquet stud's annual production sale near Mortlake, in Victoria's Western District, yesterday.
The sale, which attracted a large crowd of buyers and onlookers, cleared 114 bulls from an offering of 117 for an average of $5864.
Duncan and Oppie MacGillivray from Wittalocka Angus at Keith in South Australia bought the top priced bull, 21-month-old Banquet Designer D292, with impressive estimated breeding values of +96kg for 600-day weight and +1.1 square cm for eye muscle area.
The MacGillivrays also paid $7000 for another bull.
"The top bull will enhance our commercial herd, he is a really lovely soft bull," Mr McGillivray said.
Other bulls sold for $14,000, $12,000 and $10,000.
Banquet Angus principal Stephen Branson said he was pleased with the sale and the almost complete clearance.
