THE Victorian Farmers Federation egg group will work with a waste-to-energy company to develop an environmentally friendly solution for the disposal of spent hens.
The group has signed a memorandum of understanding with Bio-Cogen to prepare a feasibility study for designing, building, owning and operating a bio-energy plant for the disposal of hens that have reached the end of their laying life.
VFF egg group president Brian Ahmed said Bio-Cogen would build the plant at a location determined by the study.
