RHIANNON Bromley showed good form leading into the pony club state titles in May when she won grade one at the Hastings Pony Club horse trials.

Rhiannon, riding Brindabella, led from the start, scoring just 27 penalties in the dressage and jumping well in showjumping and cross-country.

The trials attracted almost 200 entries.

Tesse Cook did much the same in grade two section one on Oliver, finishing seven points ahead of the second placegetter and the trend continued with Lauren Halstead, on Mr Presley I, in section two.

In grade three section one, the winner, Caitlin Leake's Urgemon, rose from second after dressage to win.

In grade three section two, Victoria Watson's Avalon Acrobat also won after leading from the dressage.

The winners in grade four were Eliza Wozny, riding B P Brolga, in section one, and Matilda Alexander on Sugar Baby in section two.

The grade five winner was Zoe Dennis, riding Wattle Ridge Solceri.

EFA warning

EQUESTRIAN Australia has put its members on notice over complaints of abuse towards staff at its national and branch offices.

The EFA said the abuse represented a breach of the EFA codes of conduct.

The federation's chief executive officer, Franz Vernhaus, said members should treat their fellow members with "respect and courtesy".

"All too often, our hard-working staff become easy targets for abuse even, when the cause of the complaint has nothing to do with them or is outside their control," he said.

"Coincidentally, the Australian Sports Commission is about to conduct research into integrity in sport."

Mr Vernhaus said accredited coaches and officials with emails on the ASC database and clubs on the Club Development Network would be contacted.

Charity cutting event

THE Broken River Performance Horse Club will run a charity cutting event on March 12-14 to help families in the area who are in need due to illness, disability or other issues.

This is the second time the Broken River club has run the charity event.

The first raised $5000 for the Benalla Hospital.

This year, the chosen charity is the Benalla Trust Foundation.

Dublin Onyx helmets recall

THE manufacturer of Dublin Onyx helmets wishes to voluntarily recall all black or white basic Dublin Onyx helmets for inspection, due to a possible manufacturing fault.

The outer shell is coming away from the foam inner mould due to insufficient gluing at the point of manufacture.

This problem affects only the basic Dublin Onyx Helmet in black and white (item codes: 441218 - 441241) but not Purple Onyx helmets, wick-lined or leather harness versions.

The problem affects only stock made in China, not previous stock made in New Zealand.

You can identify if your helmet was made in China by looking for the internal label with "Made in China" on the reverse side.

If you have bought this item since December 1, contact the store of purchase urgently to arrange inspection of your helmet.

Gear-check stewards are urged to ask each rider at forthcoming events to read the recall notice and confirm that they have had their helmet checked accordingly, before competing.
