AUCTIONSPLUS was hot-to-trot last week, when it sold a pen of 58 1 1/2-year-old White Dorper ewes, joined to stud rams for $243.
A second pen of 53 White Dorper ewes - aged three to four years - from the same vendors, Roche Pastoral Holdings at Barraba in NSW, sold for $222.
Second-cross ewe lambs, May-June drop, sold to a top of $190.
The ewes had been joined to a White Dorper ram, and were sold by Chelmer Pastoral Co in Queensland.
Lambs stolen
THIEVES in Victoria's North East have taken advantage of booming lamb prices.
A total of 100 first-cross ewe lambs, April-May drop, October shorn were stolen from a property south east of Wangaratta earlier this month.
"At an estimate of $120 per lamb; that's $12,000," Wangaratta Senior Detective Mark Hussey said.
The ewe lambs were stolen between January 29 and February 11 from a paddock at Bobinawarrah.

Santa bulls offered
THIRTY bulls will go under the hammer at the Southern Santa Gertrudis sale at Finley in NSW, next Wednesday. Also on offer will be 500 commercial Santa's and Santa-infused cattle.
