THE Tonimbuk International Horse Trials, to be held this weekend at the Tonimbuk Equestrian Centre just north of Bunyip, have attracted more than 430 entries with 360 being accepted.
South Australia and NSW will have large contingents of riders competing.
The organising committee is ecstatic at the response for entries as the event continues to grow in popularity each year.
Members of the Australian Elite Riders Squad will be among the many competitors including former Olympians Olivia Bunn, Megan Jones and gold medalist Wendy Schaeffer.
The international-standard venue will delight all competitors and spectators with the cross-country course constructed and designed by international course designer Wayne Copping from South Australia.
A host of local and up-and-coming riders will also be competing over the weekend with classes from international to introductory.
Each horse and rider will perform a dressage test on Saturday. Showjumping and all cross-country sections of the event will be held on Sunday.
The popularity of the event reinforces the overall quality and standard of the cross-country course and the Tonimbuk Equestrian Centre.
The event organisers are sincerely appreciative of the venue's owners Ian and Pat Mouser for the use of their impressive venue.
The Cardinia Shire Council has also been an excellent supporter of the event.
The Cardinia Shire Council Award will again be presented to the best-performed rider who resides in the Cardinia Shire.
