MORGAN Horse lovers have a rare opportunity to secure valuable genetics from one of Australia's oldest Morgan Horse studs.

Bill Powell started breeding horses in 1967, and his best mare was a Queensland cattle-station bred, with a touch of Thoroughbred and old lines to stockhorses.

In 1976, Powell swung over to mainly breeding Morgan horses.

He kept the best of his stockhorses, added an endurance line from legendary Telltale (an Arab-cross thoroughbred) and crossed the mares with Morgan stallions.

Powell was the first foundation member of the Morgan Horse Association of Australia.

He is selling most of his horses due to ill-health.

An article in The Weekly Times on February 3 said Powell was selling part-bred stallions, which is not the case. He has never had a part-bred Morgan stallion and his part-bred colts are gelded at weaning age.

Powell is offering purebred stallions, fillies and geldings for sale, together with a range of mixed age of part-bred mares, fillies and geldings.
