MORE THAN 200 bulls sold at Lawsons Angus annual production sale today to very solid demand.

In one of the largest bull offerings in southern Australia this autumn Rennylea Angus at Bowna in NSW bought the top-priced bull for $12,000 who displayed good carcass traits, according to Rennylea's Brian Corrigan.

The total clearance of 219 bulls averaged $3910 _ about $100 than last years' average _ however the sale grossed $844,500 which was about $80,000 more than last year when they sold 190 bulls.

The Yea bull unit sale was hosted by Lawsons Angus stud principal Harry Lawson.

``It was a good solid sale, and there were plenty of volume buyers,'' he said.

The Lawsons bulls showed long-fed figures well above the breed average of $86, with the Lawsons offering averaging $112.

Buyers sought out the $130-plus bulls with the top-priced bull, Lawsons Henry VIII D1054 showing $136 on the long-fed average as well as and eye muscle area of +5.2, above the breed average of +2.7.
