MEDIUM and heavyweight dairy cows remained firm to 3c/kg dearer at sales across Victoria last week.

Lightweight cows were firm to slightly cheaper with many lacking quality, according to National Livestock Reporting Service manager Travis Parsci.

Dairy cows comprised 40 per cent of the state's cow yarding, at 1325 head.

Up to 461 dairy cows were yarded at Camperdown last week.

Heavyweight cows dominated and improved 4-5c/kg, to top at 134c/kg, with most returning 117-126c/kg.

Medium-weight D1-score dairy cows averaged 109c/kg.

At Warrnambool, heavyweight cows were 4-6c/kg dearer, averaging 117c/kg.

At Shepparton, dairy cows made up half of the 462 total cow yarding and most were heavyweights, which improved 2c/kg.

Medium-weight cows improved 7-13c/kg, with the "plainer" condition cows averaging 116c/kg.

At Leongatha, dairy cows were 4-8c/kg dearer.

Medium-weight cows sold from 106c to 116c/kg, while heavyweight cows sold to a top of 138c/kg and averaged 128c/kg.
