CELEBRITY gardener Peter Cundall is listed to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court today where his not guilty plea to an anti-pulp mill protest charge is expected to be accepted as a test case.
The Weekly Times gardening columnist and former ABC TV gardening guru was among 50 people arrested at a Parliament House protest in Hobart in November against the Tasmanian government's fast-track approval of the proposed Gunns Ltd pulp mill.
Those arrested were charged with failing to comply with the direction of a police officer and the 83-year-old's case will be heard as a representative test case to save time and the expense of processing everyone who's pleaded not guilty.
Cundall's lawyer and the police prosecutor are expected to inform the magistrate of the test case agreement before a date is set to hear the case.
