RESIDENTS of Marysville in Victoria have been urged by police to keep an eye out for people acting suspiciously.
Victoria Police Sen-Constable Caroline Sorrell said four people had been arrested over two separate incidents in the area over the past month. The arrests come as rebuilding continues in the town just over a year since the Black Saturday bushfires tore through the town.
On March 6, Sen-Constable Sorrell said, two men were arrested over trespass and drug-related offences at Stephensons Falls.
She said in a separate matter, on March 9, two people were arrested and spoken to over theft-related offences.
Police were called after a local resident reported the male and female acting suspiciously, Sen-Constable said.
They were arrested a short time later in an allegedly stolen vehicle.
The successful arrests were due to community vigilance, Sen-Constable Sorrell said.
“This is community policing at its best,” she said.
“We encourage residents to report all suspicious behaviour especially with the large amount of rebuilding going on in the area.”
Sen-Constable Sorrell urged anyone who saw suspicious behaviour to phone 000 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
