DAIRY farmer representation could be in for an upheaval.
Australian Dairy Farmers is expected to make an announcement tomorrow about the future of its governance arrangements, following a meeting last week with its state bodies.
Industry rumours suggest the move could be the first step towards an alternative model to the Victorian Farmers Federation and United Dairyfarmers of Victoria for farmer representation, where the UDV would become the largest state division of the ADF lobby group.
New ADF chief executive Adrian Scott confirmed the meeting last week, but would not provide any additional details about what was discussed.
The UDV and VFF have been at loggerheads over proposed constitutional changes in recent months. In the lead-up to the VFF's extraordinary general meeting last month, where constitutional changes were to be voted on, there were claims dairy farmer leaders were muzzled in their bid to campaign against the restructure.
After intense lobbying from the UDV, the changes were voted down when the VFF board failed to gain support from the 75 per cent of members needed.
