Alyth has been in the same family for 117 years and it is with a heavy heart that Beth will sell the property.

"It's an absolutely beautiful place," she said.

"We are leaving it very reluctantly. I'm just getting too old."

The property, to be sold in two separate lots (one of 22.2ha and another of 23.8ha), was named after Beth's grandfather's hometown of Alyth, in Scotland, and is situated in the picturesque Ovens Valley on the Whorouly Creek.

"Being in the Ovens River Valley, there are magnificent views of the hills around," Beth said. "It's beautiful and there are views from every room in the house."

Lot one (22.2ha) includes a nine-year-old homestead which was built to replace the old weatherboard house built in 1893.

The home has three bedrooms, the master with ensuite, and a large open-plan living, kitchen and meals area, along with an outdoors entertainment area.

The property has a steel hay shed that can house up to 240 round bales, a large barn with extensions for machinery storage and wooden stockyards and race.

It has four permanent water holes which are linked by a branch of the Whorouly Creek and three concrete stock troughs around the yards.

Lot two comprised of 23.8ha of vacant land which has several good potential house sites with commanding views, a good grazing paddock and one dam.

Alyth is located 32km from Wangaratta and 25km from Beechworth.
