MY FAMILY has been reading The Weekly Times since the mid 1940s and it is still favourite reading today.
Political correctness seems to have really gone overboard as I'm sure many will agree.
We have to think twice about even correcting our children.
I hope you will find this little story as amusing as my husband and I did.
Recently while shopping in a large supermarket we watched in amusement as one mother coped with two bored and fractious children.
First came the warning, vocally, to behave with little result.
The second warning was much more explicit: "If you two don't behave I am going to make you very embarrassed by throwing the worst tantrum you have ever seen and in front of all these people," she said to her children.
"Then you can explain why I did it."
It worked, two much quieter children moved off with mum to, we hope, finish the shopping in peace.
Full marks to her, she broke no rules and did not even raise her voice.
