FOUR vegetable-seed companies will host field days this week to enable growers to see their varietal trials.
Westranell Horticultural Solutions will have a display of the latest lettuce varieties at Clyde today, tomorrow and Friday.
The BEJO Seeds open days tomorrow and Friday at Skye will feature a display of carrots in mixed colours with shades of white, yellow, orange and various purples.
Lefroy Valley and Fairbanks Seeds will have a joint field display focusing on the salad-mix market tomorrow and Friday at Carrum Downs.
Wine tourism
THE Winemakers' Federation of Australia has won a $226,000 Federal Government grant to update and implement its National Wine Tourism Strategy.
Announcing the grant, Tourism Minister Martin Ferguson said there were 1614 cellar doors across the nation.
The livelihoods of the 28,000 people employed in the Australian wine industry depended on increased sales and keeping customers satisfied, he said.
Greenhouse course
EXPRESSIONS of interest are being sought for a technical greenhouse management course, starting next month.
The course is designed for growers and managers of greenhouse and hydroponic growing environments and will be held at Shepparton in May and August.
