MUCH of the energy around Agfest stems from the fact that it is run by a keen band of young people.
A volunteer committee of 30 Rural Youth members and ex-members, with an average age of 24 years, is behind all visitors see at the annual field days.

- Tasmania to shine at AgFest
The Rural Youth Organisation of Tasmania has only three paid employees.
Profits from Agfest support the Rural Youth Organisation and allow the employment of three full-time counsellors for Tasmania Rural Counselling (also administered by Rural Youth).
Some funds also go back into the site, to provide such improvements as permanent hydro power, four blocks of permanent toilets, fencing, roadworks and other upgrades.
Regular working bees are held throughout the year where Rural Youth members come together to work on their latest project.
Agfest is a highly regarded event in Tasmania, drawing visitors from around the state.
It won the major events category of the Tasmanian Tourism Awards five times between 1997 and 2003.
It also won the Building Communities award in 2008 from the Launceston Chamber of Commerce.
