TATURA Milk Industries suppliers should expect an opening price of between 33c/litre and 35c/litre next week.
This was the estimate provided by chairman Barry Irvin at recent supplier meetings. The current TMI and Bega southern price is 35c/litre.
Polluter fined
THE manufacturer of Don KRC products has been prosecuted for polluting a creek and a table drain near its Castlemaine plant.
George Weston Foods last week pleaded guilty to allowing a fatty substance to run into Barkers Creek and liquid waste to escape into a drain last year. The company was fined $60,000.
Accountant jailed
A FORMER accountant has been jailed for five years over a $2.8 million swindle of a Wodonga stock agency.
Justin Peter Nicholas, 34, formerly of Boorhaman North, was sentenced in the Melbourne County Court last week for theft from Corcoran Parker between 2005 and 2008.
Collective bargain
THE competition watchdog has authorised Tasmanian vegetable growers to continue collectively bargaining with McCain Foods and Simplot.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission last week re-endorsed arrangements in place since 2004.
