PETER Sutherland, of Benalla, knows trees.
A former tree feller, Peter still works in his family nursery business and runs a busy chainsaw dealership.
Peter took up logging when he left school in 1955.
In 1985, his love for flowering plants, especially roses, prompted him to open the Golden Vale Nursery in Benalla, which is now run by his son, Phil.
In 1990, Peter became a distributor for Parklands Power Products, selling both Tanaka and Oleo-Mac equipment.
Now 71, Peter has had a life-long interest in chainsaws - for decades, he collected all the saws he had used.
Unfortunately, four years ago, the shed that contained his collection was burnt down, but he and Phil have started again.
The latest saw to be added to their collection is the new Oleo-Mac GS820.
The 820 and its smaller twin, the GS720, have just been released by Parklands Power Products.
The GS720 uses a 4kW engine, but, for larger tree trunks, the GS820 comes with a 4.4kW engine.
