ITALIAN-made FAE Group mulchers will be on display at the Petromech site at Agfest next month.

The mulchers suit a variety of applications, from clearing land to roadside maintenance.

They can be attached to a variety of vehicles, including tractors and excavators.

FAE Group's Diego Facchinetti said the mulchers featured a heavy-duty build quality which fitted them well for land reclamation and clearing.

"There are several models in the range and every one of them is made to handle heavy workloads," Diego said.

"They perform well for making firebreaks and maintenance and are great for clearing undergrowth, being able to handle vegetable matter up to 100mm in diameter."

The FAE Group mulcher range starts at a working width of 50cm and goes up to mulchers with a working width of 2.5m.

Power requirements vary from 37kW to 335kW, depending on the size of the mulcher and what it will be used for.

The models which require less than 75kW to operate run on a 540rpm power take-off speed while the larger models are rated at 1000rpm.

Diego said the mulchers could be PTO or hydraulically driven and gearboxes could be double or single versions.

"The choice for larger models tends to be dual gearboxes for extra strength," Diego said.

"They can be attached to the rear of a vehicle via a three-point linkage."

At the heart of the machines is a series of hardened, swinging metal hammers.
