Elders Port Augusta selling agent, Graeme Jones, said Kalabity Station had a pastoral board maximum combined rating of 25,000 sheep or 5000 cattle equivalents and described it as "arguably some of South Australia's premier pastoral country".
"Kalabity represents an opportunity to purchase a large, highly productive wool-growing, sheep-breeding and cattle property in a proven pastoral area," he said. "It is a property which can support a family operation; or a manager as at present."
Kalabity Station consists mostly of flat to gently undulating sandy plains and rises with perennial saltbush, bluebush and bladder saltbush, plus a variety of grasses including neverfail and katoora.
There are good areas of floodout country with water coming from nearby hills and the Calico and Tonga creeks which run through the property.
"Average rainfall at Kalabity Station is 223mm, with 275mm falling between November 2009 and March this year," Graeme said.
"The property has five main pipeline systems - these systems are reliable and well-maintained, pumping to header tanks and gravity feeding throughout the lease.
"Large dams on the pipeline can feed into these lines when required. "There are also four man-made drain catchment systems harvesting water in the south, and auxiliary dams supplying water via gravitation to the north of the lease."
The main six-bedroom homestead is well-maintained and is complemented by a four-bedroom manager's residence.
"The homestead is situated 56 kilometres northwest of Olary and 130 kilometres from Broken Hill.
The property's services include mail every Tuesday and Thursday, School of the Air, broadband, 24-hour solar power, satellite TV, airstrip and its own repeater channel 1," Graeme said.
On-farm features of Kalabity Station include an eight-stand stone shearing shed with undercover steel yards, shearers' quarters, two sets of steel-framed cattle yards and many sets of cattle-trap yards.
