STRONG commercial support from southern Australia pushed prices to $22,000 at Sprys Shorthorns today.
Hosted by the Spry family on-property at Wagga Wagga, the sale drew 59 registered buyers.
A total of 32 bulls sold from the 36 offered for a gross of $210,000 and average of $6562.
In the females, 18 sold from 19 offered for a gross of $78,000 and average of $4333.
Cattle sold to Jindabyne, Tamworth, Holbrook, Deniliquin, Yass, Gunnedah, Cudal, Wilcannia, Hillston, Sale, Echuca and South Australia.
Dallas and Greg Schuller, of Outback Shorthorns, Culcairn, paid the top bull price of $22,000 for Sprys Solution.
The 14-month-old son of Glenell IMF weighed 595kg and had an eye muscle area of 97 sq cm.
Commercial producer Lyndall Bennett, of Wilcannia, bought the top price female, Sprys Miss Emerald, for $22,000.
The 21-month-old heifer was sired by Marellan Emerald and is joined to Futurity Outback.
Vendor Gerald Spry said the sale was well above expectations.
"People are wanting moderate and thick cattle with softness and the flexibility to supply any market,'' he said.
