KUHN Farm Machinery has boosted its baler range with the launch of two round balers and a large square baler for Australia.
The Kuhn VB2160 and VB2190 are variable chamber round balers while the large square baler is called the LSB1290.
The round balers feature a progressive density bale formation system that ensures the bale remains dense and tightly packed during its formation in the bale chamber.
As the bale gets bigger in the bale chamber, a belt-tensioning arm is subjected to steadily increasing resistance from two hydraulic cylinders and a spring tensioner. As the bale diameter increases, so does the bale's density.
The round balers have five large belts and three chamber rollers which are used in conjunction to form the bales.
Another feature of the round balers is a front-mounted net wrap system which provides the operator with a perfect view of the wrapping from the tractor seat.
Once the bale has taken hold of the net, a free-wheel hub allows the net to carry on running around the baler without restriction. Fine tuning the net tension is by changing shims on one of the feed rollers.
The VB2160 model is fitted with a 2.1 metre wide pick-up.
It produces round bales with a diameter of 80cm to 1.6 metres with a width of 1.2 metres. A choice of 14 or 23 knives in an Opticut system is available for cutting pasture for silage.
The VB2190 has similar specifications except it can produce bales to a maximum diameter of 1.85 metres.
Most of the balers' major functions such as the amount of wrap or twine used and activation of the pick-up are controlled and monitored in the tractor cabin via Kuhn's Auto Plus control box.
Kuhn's LSB1290 large square baler features a fully automatic greasing system and safety clutches on all major components.
Its pick-up is 2.3m in width and it produces bales which measure 120cm wide by 80 or 90cm tall and from 60cm to three metres in length.
Thanks to Kuhn's patented Twin Step knotting system, once the pre-set bale length has been achieved, six knotters automatically tie the twine off.
