THE closing date for site applications for this year's Elmore and District Machinery Field Days is June 16.
And given the excellent start to the cropping season in Victoria, exhibitors will have to be quick to secure a spot.
Organisers of the Elmore event said this year the field days would focus on what it did best, including machinery demonstrations.
Elmore and District Machinery Field Days representative Sam Shotton said the in-field demonstrations were an excellent method of viewing machinery in actual working conditions.
"To see the equipment working in the paddock is a real bonus," she said.
Other highlights of the Elmore field days include the cropping and hay and silage plots.
Sam said many of the crop-trial and paddock plots had already germinated.
He said if the good season continued there would be an excellent opportunity to see how crops and pasture performed under local conditions.
"Plus we use the paddock plots for mowers, conditioners and balers so visitors can see them working in actual paddock conditions," Sam said.
Field Days president Darren Trewick said that in line with the field days' policy, the scope for new exhibitors was determined by the availability of display site space and by relevance to agriculture.
"Elmore is the only Victorian field days event which carries the endorsement of the Tractor and Machinery Association," Darren said.
"There's something for everyone in the way of machinery, products and services from viticulture to dairy, livestock and broadacre."
This year's field days is the second year of the Elmore's Ewes for the Future Trial, which looks at the performance of five breeds of sheep - first-cross, Merino, Centreplus, Dohne and SAMM.
The ewe trial results provide important, ongoing information on the best lamb mothers, their productivity and value of the lambs.
This year's Elmore Field Days is also the 10th anniversary of the popular Ag Art Wear competition, which features fashions made from commonly found farm objects.
Sam said she was also expecting plenty of interest in the annual Machine of the Year Awards.
"We encourage all manufacturers of machinery to enter the awards, which have Australian-made and imported categories," she said.
Previous exhibitors should have received a copy of the event's prospectus.
