THE bluefin tuna are biting - and the fishermen are biting back.
This massive southern bluefin tuna was caught off Port Fairy on Saturday, by Khal Kassao.
At 156.4kg, it is the largest bluefin tuna caught in Victoria, South Australia or Tasmania.
The catch followed a spate of record landings in the past week.
Sydney angler Al McGlashan caught a 154.6kg bluefin, also at Port Fairy, breaking the then-record of a 144.6kg tuna caught a week ago.
The Australian record for a southern bluefin tuna stands at 167.5kg, caught off Tathra, NSW, last July.
