THOMAS the Tank Engine will be part of the fun at this year's Echuca Steam Horse and Vintage Rally.
Run by the Rotary Club of Echuca-Moama at Rotary Park, the rally, on June 12-13, is a celebration of steam engines' contribution to Australian industry.
Thomas will be joined by other steam trains provided by the Campaspe Valley Railway, which is permanently based on-site.
These will be in full steam, with 5" and 7 1/4" locos from Victoria and NSW offering rides to visitors.
Steam Rail Victoria will also operate a special steam train from Melbourne to Swan Hill on the Saturday, then on to Echuca overnight for the steam rally on Sunday.
This year, the event's feature steam engine is the extremely rare J J. Seeking, but, over the weekend, 30 other engines will be on show.
These will include such names as Yorkshire, Sentinel, Leyland, Foden, Fowler, Aveling and Porter, Garrett, Cowley, Buffalo Pitts, Case, Marshall, Robey, Stanley and McLaren.
This year's feature car club is the Veteran Car Club of Australia, whose members plan to take a 150km tour around the district on Saturday.
On Sunday, the cars will be on display at Echuca.
