MICK Keogh reckons there is a lot to be said for Australia's geographical position, its challenging soils and often unreliable rainfall.
It has bred a tough breed of farmers.
Mr Keogh, a farmer himself and head of the Australian Farm Institute, says these factors put Australian agriculture in a good position for the future.
He will be among the key note speakers at a series of Department of Primary Industries forums exploring the key factors driving Australian agriculture and the opportunities these represent.
Topics include climate change, global competition, fluctuating markets and competition for resources.
UK food marketing professor David Hughes will speak on the international outlook for food and regional farmers will speak on their successes.
Our Farming Future forums will be at Tatura on June 17, Mildura June 18, Hamilton June 21 and Warragul June 22.
