A NEW high-speed bale wrapper to cater for the growth in high output balers has been released by McHale.
The McHale 991T bale wrapper can wrap three bales in the time it takes its predecessor, the McHale 991BE, to wrap two bales.
The Irish-made bale wrapper's increased speed is thanks to its table working speed of 30 rotations a minute and a wrapping arm that has two film dispensers.
Each film dispenser consists of two aluminium rollers, 750mm in length, that are linked via steel gears.
One roller is slightly higher than the other and creates an overlap of the two lengths of film to ensure a tightly sealed bale. Four heavy-duty belts on the bale wrapper provide a smooth and level bale rotation even for odd-shaped and loosely-made bales.
The 991T's gearbox and driveline are protected by shear pins if the bale causes an overload on the system.
The wrapper is controlled in the tractor cabin via a console which keeps the driver up to date on key parameters through a graphic display.
The console allows the driver to choose an auto bale load function, auto bale tipping function, the number of film layers to be applied to the bale, and a single roll bale wrapping mode if one roll of film breaks.
The lifting capacity of the wrapper's lift arm, which can be positioned from a button in the tractor cabin, is 1100kg.
When the button is pushed, the wrapper will load the bale and return the lift arm to a position clear of the table before the wrapping cycle starts.
The bales are handled gently thanks to a patented bale damping system, which lowers the bale slowly onto the ground and reduces stress on the chassis at the same time.
When the wrapper's table stops rotating and is raised to the tipping position, the heavy-duty damper raises up to cradle the bale.
A second arm is then lowered automatically to the ground to minimise the impact of the bale as it is tipped off.
The 991T is also fitted with automatic film break sensors to monitor the plastic film as it is applied from the dispensers. The wrapper will detect a plastic roll breaking or running out and the operator will be alerted in the cabin.
The wrapper will automatically switch to single dispenser mode and continue wrapping the bale at a slower rotation speed. McHale wrapper and balers are available through the KV Agriculture network.
