SPECULATION is rife that two large chunks of the Riverina property portfolio owned by Twynam Agriculture are about to be purchased.
Rumours have emerged that Macquarie Pastoral Fund's offshoot, Paraway Pastoral, will purchase Mungadal Station, near Hay, and Gundaline Station, near Carrathool.
However, Twynam Agriculture dismissed the rumours and Paraway Pastoral refused to comment.
A Twynam spokesman told The Weekly Times he was "not aware of any sale that is going on".
Mungadal Station has been on the market since April 2008 when Twynam's other long-held Riverina properties, Steam Plains and Cobran Station, were also listed for sale.
At the time, Twynam's owner John Kahlbetzer said he would keep the 100,000ha Gundaline Station.
One Riverina real estate agent said it would "make sense" if Paraway Pastoral bought the stations while another said it "wouldn't surprise" him if the rumours of a forthcoming sale were true.
Paraway Pastoral purchased Twynam's Steam Plains mid-way through last year for a rumoured $25 million.
