MEAT and Livestock Australia today announced its general manager of marketing, David Thomason, and general manager of industry systems, Allan Bloxsom, will be leaving the company.

"New general managers have been appointed to two vital business units to bring renewed focus to domestic marketing activities and key industry systems," a statement from MLA read.

MLA managing director David Palmer said both men had contributed substantially to the development and implementation of their respective programs for the benefit of the entire industry.

The changes will allow MLA to provide a new perspective and build further on the powerful legacy both Allan and David leave the industry, Mr Palmer said.

MLA cited ``changes to key executive positions'' as the reason behind the shake-up and that ``as a result of these changes Mr Thomason and Mr Bloxsom will be leaving the company''.

As marketing manager, Mr Thomason has overseen growth in domestic demand for red meat since 1998, while Mr Bloxsom was instrumental in the establishment of the National Livestock Identification System.
