SKIPTON wool classer Lisa McLean is the latest winner of Landmark's documentation award.
The award, presented at Landmark's Wool classer Forum in Bendigo this month, seeks to reward professional classers who take pride in their work, including attention to detail in filing clip specifications.
Lisa said she was thrilled with the award, after almost 20 years of wool classing, including a stint of six years in sheds around Esperance in Western Australia.
Lisa and her shearer husband, Gary, continue to work many sheds around Skipton.
She said the introduction of the National Wool Declaration for the mulesing status and dark fibre risks meant classers were now having to be more careful.
While the matter of declaring the mulesing status was one for the flock owner, Lisa recommends that growers provide flock management details for assessing each lot's risk for dark and medullated fibre.
Last week's forum was the 20th, and possibly the final, conducted by Landmark and the Bendigo Regional Institute of TAFE.
Landmark's Athol Frederick said the forum was now under review, although the organisers were open to suggestions for a successor.
